I think they are extra bright red tail lights. I hired a car in the UK once
and I was getting horn blowing behind me from people who were obviously
annoyed. At the traffic lights I wound the window down and asked what they
were on about. "You have you b****y fog rear lamps on !"
What are they ? was my reply. I found the info in the handbook.
They are really only of use in those polluted murky bleak countries of the
Northern Hemispere.
