Hi Andy and readers,

"A mobile phone of course!"

Why a MOBILE phone? Wouldn't it be easier to salvage the touch pad from
an ordinary telephone and power it with a 6V battery? Then there are the
DTMF mikes that come with 2M FM mobile rigs, one can be adapted to just
about any rig and actually works as a microphone too. (;->)

Now let's not hear any squawking from the UK hams now, I know your
repeaters use a single tone burst to open them and autopatch isn't common
outside the US. The solution is simple, order one from the manufacturer,
you have heard of Yeasu, Icom and the rest, haven't you? OK, not worth
the expense you say, well, there are lots of uses for DTMF even if BT
uses different tones for signaling.
