I shall go and clean the terminals on my handie batteries while I'm
thinking about it.
I expect you know all about the relay under the plastic cover near the
back of the 290.
Mine showed the usual faults when I first got it. It is easy to clean. The
yellow deposit I removed told me the previous owner was a heavy smoker.
As was I until three years ago but I'm not in any way a born again non
smoker who preaches. The 290 relay fault seems to be mainly due to cigs.
I did clean it once more in the next 12 years and it's still going strong
but used as my 2m main rig so I don't know about batts.
My little handie can go for days on a charge or just hours, so I'll
definitely get out the switch cleaner. Thanks Andy.
