CAUGHT OUT ?
In a most gentlemanly way Dick VK3ABK queried a word contained in one of
my bulletins. He said,
__________
" Much later, he commented....
I do not remember what the actual resultant readings were, ....
The differences were certainly such that one could well think twice about
the in-advisability of buying a dark coloured vehicle.
----
Ian, are you thinking about advisability or not?
Or you trying to inflame the inflammable flammable!
73. Dick. VK3ABK. "
__________
A good comment Dick, however, my wording is not without explanation.
I had to stop and think as a result of your comment, and running it over
in my mind had to agree that my choice of words was perhaps somewhat
clumsy in form.
However, I WAS thinking about advisability and portrayed my feelings as
such.
The word I used was "in-advisability" where it should have been
'inadvisability", without the hyphen.
This is as per the Macquarie Concise Dictionary 2nd Edition where we find;
" inadvisable, adj. not advisable, inexpedient. inadvisability, noun.
inadvisably, adverb.
I will try to be less clumsy next time and endeavour to improve my
approach to communication.
Regards,
Ian
