Hi Helmut and readers,
Thanks for the answers, frankly I had no idea that anyone had a layer of
the ionosphere named after him. Of course we all know the layers are
listed alphanumerically as in D, F1, F2 etc.
Uh, information on how to build an H bomb is anything but classified, the
basics may be found in any library and are taught in every school science
class. With a bit of research you can find detailed drawings and
specifications of earlier designs, they're common knowlege.
The red herring question was that one considering the difference between
a fission reaction and a fusion reaction. Actually an H bomb is a three
stage reaction, chemical, fission and fusion. The chemical reaction is
the primary trigger, simple high explosives used to compress the
fissionable material into a critical mass. The resulting chain reaction
provides the secondary trigger, the heat and pressure needed to cause the
fusion reaction.
The second part of the question was another red herring, I'm surprised
that so many who supposedly graduated high school got it all wrong. Both
deuterium and tritium are naturally occurring hydrogen isotopes found in
minute amounts in ordinary water. You drink them every day. Not only are
they isotopes, they are also molecules as are oxygen molecules even
though hydrogen and oxygen are elements. Oxygen is commonly O2 while
ozone is O3 and deuterium is H2 and tritium H3.
Somehow these guys slept through chemestry class! (;->)
