governments that would just love to flog off the bands to the highest
bidder. When that happens, you have a hobby with no where to go.
As an aside, I'm quite sure when this band selloff happens, that the
government here at least will stuff it up. I don't believe there has ever
been a decent decision made on communications in the history of Australia.
For packet in particular to get ahead, it is going to take some herculean
effort to educate the average users. The main problem is we shouldn't be
trying to emulate the Internet; I can spend $300 and have a modem that is
over 4 times faster than my 9600bd. We should be making things better.
Amateur radio has the advantage that you don't need to make sure that every
single system is using the same protocol. That is why we could develop,
for example, a better system than smtp and nntp. The internet couldn't
easily; there are far too many hosts out there.

I'm in favor of doing it tomorrow, if I had any idea what IT
is...:-) IT sounds like a new ip address system, but that is a wild guess.
Gonna be tough to do this until we know what is needed. Might take 5
years to do that.

Guys,
JF2CEX, Takeshi Shoji released new version of JNETCEX yesterday.
JNETCEX is based too old version of KA9Q. But, this is many
improved by JF2CEX and his group. Current version of JNETCEX
supports many UNIX platforms, SCO, 386BSD, SunOS, NextStep, NEWS,
LINUX and FreeBSD. We are sorry that we do not provide any manual
in English and in any national languges. However, You can get
newest version of this source codes from
"http://www.myk.ilc.or.jp/~taka/". Ofcause, this is able to run
with MS-DOS and DOS Window on Win95. If you have any qustion about
JNETCEX, please hesitate to contact me.
