Subject: DJGPP NOS now available
I am happy to announce that at long last I've released my port of NOS
(my base version) to the DJGPP version 2 compiler.
DJGPP is a port of the GNU C compiler to DOS. It comes with its own
32-bit extender. Like all GNU code, the complete compiler package is
free software. So not only do you get the ability to use more than
640K with this version, but you also have no excuse for not being able
to reconfigure and recompile it yourself!
Although I had to change and/or rewrite a lot of code to make this
port, it's been running quite stably here since earlier this year.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much assembler code I was able to
discard. The DJGPP DPMI library support functions are quite powerful,
and in most cases I was able to use a library function to do what I
had previously done in handwritten assembler (this is particularly
true for interrupt handlers).
The NOS source for DJGPP is available as
ftp://qcftp.qualcomm.com/pub/cdma/karn/djdist.zip
To get DJGPP, see http://www.delorie.com/djgpp and follow the pointers.
I've also updated my web page
http://www.qualcomm.com/people/pkarn/tcpip.html
Have fun!
Phil
