Actually, it was Hank Magnuski, KA6M, who had network 44 allocated back in
1981.  Now _that's_ foresight, when you consider that the TAPR TNC-1 didn't
hit the market until around 1983-84 and KA9Q's NET program for the Xerox 820
only made its debut in 1986 or so.
