This might also be a good time to point out the unpleasant possibility that we
would be in big trouble if Brian were, say, run over by a truck. I don't know
what sort of provisions have been made for transferring administrative
responsibility for AMPR.ORG and -- more importantly -- Net 44, but it would be
wise to see about placing them in the hands of a perpetual entity. At the
very
least, I think Brian might consider entering into some kind of legal
arrangement with TAPR or a similar organization, perhaps along the lines of a
"deed of gift" by which he could impose whatever restrictions he thinks
necessary to preserve the interests of all parties.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I brought this up privately to Brian quite awhile back. It is
a VERY good idea. I am very happy with the way Brian runs the domain
BUT the possibility that some individual with a different agenda could
take it over is not good. Perhaps the ownership should be taken over now
by an organization with a written agreement that Brian could continue
to run it with the same freedom he now has. This would be good if we
have any future problems like this billing fiasco.
TAPR would be a good choice. Lets not just talk about it let do something.
Anyone from TAPR willing to take this on?

Come on Brian - you know that is not what Mike or I have said. Yes
if something happenned to you, you could not be depended on obviously.
This is like having a will - everyone should, many don't and it is
their heirs that get screwed not them.
I personally hope you are doing this when I am 70 years old (I don't
think you do though!) We just have to plan alittle better when things
are going good, like NOW.

I think it is properly up to Brian to decide how to handle it. I don't think
it would be appropriate for TAPR or anyone else to make the first move.

Well yes we should respect Brian's wishes - he has done a great job but
as you pointed out, like anyone else, he could be hit by a truck tomorrow!
AMPR.ORG belongs to us all. He administers it. I just don't want to see
chaos and a great loss for us all if something were to happen. I
am NOT advocating taking anything away from Brian! So Brian maybe you
BEHIND the scenes should pursue this... Lets not make a big spectacle
of it (like the internic thing) on this or any group!
