No, no, the reason was merely that at the time, Brian wasn't willing to
let us try running a delegated uk.ampr.org domain, so a few people started
looking around for more flexible parent domains and several were examined.

That's old news now though: ever since Brian gave us the go-ahead on the
grounds of supporting experimentation and progress, we've been getting
ready to subdomain "uk" within ampr.org properly. (It's moving rather
slowly, but I think we'll get there eventually.) Fees never came into it.

>From the crop of ideas presented in this thread as a means of bypassing
the rule of the InterNIC, I like Alan's best, ie. to make use of the
"int" top-level domain, which seems very appropriate. Regarding root
nameservers and the creation of completely new top-level domains ("int"
is not new), I doubt if it would be a problem if there were sufficient
activity in the new tree, because the roots won't like to be seen as the
cause of Internet partitioning. On the other hand, as Brian says, the
new bosses at InterNIC may understand only $$$ and are not necessarily
swayed by reason.

Rich.

Subject: Problems w/ PC-Com Radio Modems

Hallo,
I've 2 Radio-Modems named PC-Com from Conrad-Electronics in germany.
I'm a newbie and can't configure them. In the package was no descriptions.
Only a program for DOS named PRIMUS.
I want to connect 2 Linux-machines with TCP/IP.
The 2nd machine should be my gateway to the Internet with a ethernet-card.
How can I run them. When I start axattach, I only hear a beep.

How can help me.

I've attached my two configurations.
      _,
Bye, (_
     ,_)ven.
