G'day All,
After playing around with Linux for an i486 I thought I breathe some
life into my Amiga and get it to run Linux too.
So I read the FAQ, the Install Guide the ANNOUNCE files and did what they
said to do; but it doesn't work :<
The command I used on the AmigaDOC CLI was;
amiboot-2.1 -k vmlinux-1.2.10pl -r new-filesys video=pal,inverse
This is what amiboot had to say:
Linux/68k Amiga Bootstrap version 2.1
Copyright 1993,1994 by Hamish Macdonald and Greg Harp
CPU: 68030 with 68881 FPU, ECS
Command line is 'vide=pal,inverse'
Vertical Blank Frequency: 50 Hz
Power Supply Frequency: 50 Hz
EClock Frequency: 709 kHz
Found 3 AutoConfig Devices
Device 0: addr = 00e90000
Device 1: addr = 00200000
Device 2: addr = 00400000
2 Blocks of Memory Found
Block 0: 08f00000 to 09000000 (1024KB)
Block 1: 00200000 to 00400000 (2048KB)
1024K of CHIP memory
The kernel will be located at 08f00000
Unable to allocate memory
The equipment in question:
Amiga 2000
CSA Derringer 68030 board with 1Mb of 32bit DRAM (the 1024K at 008f00000)
GVP Series II SCSI/RAM controller card (2048KB at 00200000/00e90000)
GoldenGate II card (the passive one) located at 00400000
avail tells me this:
Type Available In-Use Maximum Largest
chip 851840 195712 1047552 851712
fast 2824576 321136 3145712 1778232
total 3766416 516848 4193264 1778232
So.. what am I doing wrong? The 'largest' value seems a worry to me.
If my hardware is not up to the job, what needs to be done. eg add more
RAM to the GVP board.
