Ok, if anyone else ever wants to build a packet decoder with an NJM2211 PLL
chip, be warned - the example FSK decoder schematic in the datasheet is a
misprint! I spent probably an hour and a half trying to figure out why it
wasn't decoding anything, before I realized that the schematic had ground
connected to pin 3, the quadrature phase detector output, rather than pin 4
(GND). Works fine now.

Now to figure out why the packet's not decoding...

For those interested: I am happy to announce that the KE4NYV-5 digipeater
has been put back online with a mended MFJ-1278 to replace the flaked out
Kam Plus. Since the RX went out of the Kenwood TM-261 I was using, that
has been replaced with an old HTX-202 and a 35W brick. An old Compaq 486
running Digi_Ned on a DOS bootdisk is still the computer controlling the
"smart" aspects.

The digi is located at my home QTH in Roanoke, Virginia and can easily make
it to the N2EDE-3 digi way atop Poor Mountain. My hopes are that by
getting this digi back online I can bridge a gap between Blacksburg and
Lexington along this section of the I-81 corridor.

There are future plans to re-locate the digi to a much higher point here in
Roanoke, with a much higher gain antenna. If this happens it will become a
digi that can serve this part of the state much better and maybe even into
some of North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia.

I'll be placing some pictures on my website soon of the new setup.

I have been noticing that there are some MORE than eager beavers that input
data into the aprs igate stream more often than necessary
causing extra unnnecssary traffic. A 14 or 10 second gap seems a bit short.

I would like to put together a stats server and graph those agressive
stations.

Come on guys, leave some room for others .

I would be interested to know what the full packets are. Most servers
have a 30 second dupe check timer which would lead me to believe that
these packets somehow have different content.

As to the frequency of the packets, the good side is that unlike RF,
these packets won't exclude someone else's. The bad side is that they
do increase overall bandwidth requirements. IS0GRB-2 is an aprsD server
so these packets are not necessarily being seen on RF.

With all the chatter about what Icon to use for a full time Igate, I was
wondering what symbol one would recommend for a full-time Igate that is also
a SatGate?

I tried using the "I", and given I had been using a "dish", I much preferred
the dish and went back to it. Igates are identified to me with ui-view with
a blue box anyway.

Perhaps someone can give some thought of what Icon to use for a Satgate, not
just an Igate. Is there a way to do the Dish with an overlaid 'I' ? That
might fill the bill?

Given only the choice of a "plain" Igate and keeping my Dish Icon to
indicate some connection to satellite ops, I'll stay with the the dish and
let my Igate take care of everything automagically.

Do you have tracker designs on your web site? Send the group the url.

I have found several that were very interesting. I just got the RS
DigiTraveler and order a TT3. I am interested in making a tracker "Box"
that could be changed out with whatever the need is a hand. I would like
to make a tracker that could be self contained with gell cells and all.

I know there are designs out there....some links I have lost and can't
find any more. Let's see them folks :-)

My recommendation is the GATE symbol with the "S" overlay for SATGATE.

That was my thought too, that this is a good idea but would certainty be
abused by the SPAMbots, I would be quick to remove any reference to
email or web addresses in my status or other text.

Sorry but I get enough SPAM as it is, while the concept is great the
potential for abuse is even greater.

Anyone on the list used MapMaker? Kinda expensive for APRS/Ham use at
$330 US but there is a free version with less features. Found this site
through a link to their freeware program SunClock.

Since PCsat is OPS normal for a few days, and has even been configured as a
normal APRS RELAY-WIDE digi, everyone is invited to QSY their APRS mobiles
this evening to 145.825 to see what happens. Operate normally. Do not be
agressive. To minimize confusion. Delete all messages and stations in
your LIST so you start with a clean slate.

Times for the USA are:

PDT MDT CDT EDT
---- ---- ---- ----
1245 1345 Alaska, Canada, New Egland
1220 1320 1425 1525 Alaska, Canada, Northeast USA
1405 1505 1610 1710 Seattle and Eastern USA
1550 1650 1755 1855 All of USA
1735 1835 1930 Wesern USA
1920 Central calif

Alaska actually gets about 7 passes in a row!

Thanks to Steve DIggs and Doc Larsen and John SImon in VK land, who have
kept it commanded this weekend.

And also for your Morning Commute on Monday. Do something different. QSY
to 145.825 and see if you copy anything. Mid Latitudes of the USA will
get about 3 passes of PCsat between about 0630 to 1030 your local time.

Notice how the passes are in the morning and evening and this is why PCsat
has almost full sun most of its orbit.

PCsat digipeats via RELAY, WIDE, W3ADO-1, APRSAT and PCSAT-1 if it stays
configured as we like.. Thus, it should operate like any APRS digi
