I STILL haven't figured out what it is I have NOT done, in order for
MacAPRS to " See " my Initalization files. What are the FOLDER names I'm
supposed to have in the APRS Folder, in order to get it to work? Is the
INITALIZATION FILES name supposed to be " TNC ", INIT?, 'er WAT? Can't
remember, and due to this, MacAPRS doesn't " See " my initalization files.

FOr what its worth, PCsat seems to be working well every midday pass in
the Northern Hemisphere where the sun shines on its best +Z panel.
Today I'm going to turn on max rate telemetry to get a good picture of the
spin data..

Hi Pete,

I am not sure exactly what is happening here... I can start and run SA7 and
APRS+, but after a couple minutes to hours, I start to get the SA7 error
again... OR... it will not run at all from boot. VERY STRANGE.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled SA7 and did the same for APRS+... did not
seem to fix the problem.

on a different thread...
I really wish that I could get APRS Point running again! That one requires a
valid unlock key, I know I wrote it down, but cannot find it now.
If I could get APRSPoint working, I could stop trying to make APRS+ work
correctly.

Since PCsat is doing so well, **
I turned on high-rate telemetry for today's noon pass and
got probably the biggest data set ever.

This is because normally we have to make sure to command off the high-rate
packets so that we dont die later in eclipse. So we start at 3mins prior
to LOS to send that critical command. But since now PCsat always dies in
eclipse, we just let her run all the way to LOS and got a long data set:

http://www.ew.usna.edu/~bruninga/pcsat/3s031205.txt

The file is just a text capture of the entire pass...

** "doing so well" is a relative term. This only works during noon passes
in the northern hemisphere when a command station can log on and turn
off unnecessary loads. And unfortunately I can only do this from work
and not home, so weekends are out too...

Can someone send me the link, to the page/site, as to WHERE to look up the
#'s for a repeater that is Echo Link wired?, I'm looking for K4TLH in

Does anyone have a pre-compiled .hex file for the current Son of Tinytrak
code? I built a programmer board that should work, but I don't yet have the
compilation environment set up.

Speaking of compilers, is there anything more capable than the HI-TECH PICC
that's free?

>>Lets solve the problems, not avoid them.

I agree, lets fix the problems.

Two of these are;

1.) We need to do a better job of educating new users and coaching
existing users to make necessary changes that increase reliability and
throughput of the network. If that means that we (as a group) make a few
unhappy with some rules that is the way it goes. There are rules that
govern repeater operation, nets, contests, etc, why should the APRS
portion be any different. If end-users do not make intelligent choices
in their UNPROTO paths then after contacting them and advising them of
the correct way if they choose to ignore or refuse to adjust their
operating habits then block their access to the system. So my opinion is
that some form of policing (an APRS OO) is necessary to deal with the 1%
that are causing problems.

2.) We need to recognize that it is time to move to a faster data rate.
We need to keep 144.390 for user I/O, and get everything after the first
digi off of 144.390 and onto a 9600 or faster backbone. This move is
LONG overdue, for APRS and Ham digital communications in general.

I use first.aprs.net for my igate and remember seeing a couple days ago
something about other ports on it that gives you just the messageing feed,
rf2inet feed, but not the massive station dump you get when connected to
port #23.

HELP ME If you have this information. . .

Please not the filter stuff cause I cant get it to work???

I am using port 1314 now and it seems to work OK except that I can't tell if
this feeds my local RF to the internet?

NO TNC/RADIO here yet, I am transplanting this into our 911 centers Igate in
the next few days. Just testing here.

I believe the "filter stuff" is on a Java Server, while first.aprs.net is an
aprsd server (C++). Anyway, take a look at:

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/aprsd/aprsd/doc/ports.html?rev=1&
.2content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup

This html file shows port usage, and it lists 1314 as the message port.

Port 1314 sends messages only but passes all packets from a validated
client to APRS-IS. It is available on most of the servers available.
The javAPRSSrvr's also support other ports which are usually shown on
their status page (browse to http://third.aprs.net:14501 for an example.
javAPRSSrvr is used on second.aprs.net through fourth.aprs.net and all
aprs2.net servers. For a listing of those servers, and more information
on server filtering, go to www.aprs-is.net
