oops,

It looks like my question should be if KG0YJ/VE3 should suffice for APRS use
while driving in Ontario Canada.

I hope you have the MENU-RADIO-DISPLAY KEY-FUNCTION mode set to MODE-3 so
that the APRS hot keys are always visible on the front of the radio...

Then just hit LIST and then OK to see the first station on the list. Then
just rotate the TUNING knob to see all 40 stations in the list. Look at
their DISTANCE from you and ther ICON. You are looking for the closest DIGI
to youi. THye are the STAR icon.

If your list is replaced too often, then selelt POSITION LIMIT and set it
to 100 miles,. Then wait a half hour and look at the list again...

Or, just hold the Function key down for a second or two until the APRS key
data is displayed.

If you are talking abou tthe DIGI 10 minute LOCAL posit there is not reason
at all for 9 minutes. That just adds 10% more QRM to the channel. Just
set it to 10 minutes. That is all the FCC requires.

Gents,

Wondering if you can help me.

My GPS locks onto at least 6 satellites and provides a 3d fix.
The GPS reports an error less than 4 meters.
I can see data coming from the GPS in RS232 format
The TinyTrak light flashes as it should.
The packet tones sound pretty close and my radio is keying up in plenty of
time.
Each packet goes thru the local digi and gets repeated.
One of our local stations has a gate into the internet and I can see myself
on the Maps 100% of the time.
I can even hear other stations and see them on my UI-view screen as well

What am I doing wrong ?

Ah,
But it doesnt make send to add a 2 second and extra key press in front of
every single APRS data access on the radio. It is an APRS radio which is
the whole reason for owning it in my opinion, so why not have the APRS menu
always up?

I use the APRS buttons probably 50 times as much as the REV and LOW power
buttons which are the ones that the radio comes up with as the default.

I find so many D700 users are not even aware that they can set the APRS hot
buttons as the primary display buttons... So I try to share it with
eveyrone who is new to the radio...

Thanks
Bob
