I don't think this is very far off for AGW!  Have you seen the banner at 
the top of the AGW website recently?

The banner is for a USB-interfaced $100 TNC and links to:

Sounds like a really neat device with the ability to power itself off 
the USB interface, KISS mode operation, dedicated GPS port with the 
ability to run as a standalone tracker, standalone digipeater mode, etc. 
  Sounds a a bit like a TNC-X on steroids.

This may be the real solution for "legacy-free" laptops with no serial ports.

Presumably, the AGW Packet Engine software will be updated to accommodate
this USB device.
