I'm interested. Using APRS and Amateur voice comms with increasing
regularity from both ground teams and aircraft. Also use portable digipeater
in aircraft.

Would welcome an opportunity to discuss operational issues with APRS.

Last week I ran across this newsgroup:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/aero_aprs/

That is described as "A place for the exchange of information and experience
on the use of APRS in aircraft."

Thought it might be of interest.

There is one out there that is for that very subject. It has not had a post
this year but had a number of them last year. It's address is in the cc
block above. And yes Curt, you are on that list too.

I am reposting the message that started this SIG below. Maybe with this
introduction, we will get some new members on this list and make it active
again.

You can sign up at: www.sbsar.org/aprs

Hello all,

In response to the recent QST article I set up a mailing list of those that
have contacted me and are SAR/APRS inclined. As you have contacted me, I
have asked if I could add you to the mailing list, so that is why you are
getting this email. If you know anybody else that may be interested feel
free to invite them to join. You can find instructions at
www.sbsar.org/aprs.

I see that Curt has already posted a question this evening. I look forward
to hearing the discussion. I don't have a lot to add on the topic at the
moment. By the way, Curt is one of the developers of Xastir, so he is a
great APRS resource, and is involved with SAR as well.

A number of you are just rolling out an APRS effort, and many of you have
already done some actual field use. Some of you are ground pounders, and
others get to fly around in aircraft. Either way, I hope that this will be a
useful forum.

I will be at ITRS at the end of the month in Salt Lake City. I know some of
you will be stopping by. If you are there please introduce yourself.
