I have a problem with setting up a KPC3+ digi and an emergencey mobile
digipeter for use wehn inside a shelter. The plan is to set up a THD-7
inside running low power and sending ehr signal to my moblie jusrt outside.
It works fine reporting my position and others, but messages will not get
digipeatd thru the mobile digi. This is a stand alone KPC3+ and an FT8500
with no computer attached after I program the TNC
Here is my set up of the TNC:....can some help?

Correction: WinAPRS registration was reduced to $xx last year by the
Sproul's. The program still reflects $xx which is incorrect and should be
updated on the next release.

Plus you get more bang for your buck with UI-View32 which is updated at
least quarterly if not more often and is thoroughly tested before being
released.

Or save the price of UI-View registration, use that money to help purchase
a TinyTrack-3 or a PocketTracker, and run Xastir, which is still $0.00. I
don't see the registration fee going down anytime soon.

BTW: How many people have tried the PocketTracker so far? I've got one
built and am starting to test it. They're pretty cool little gadgets.

They do look neat and does that price include the TiniTrak3 built in?

Got me a bit nervous seeing the external antenna jack however, being the
device does not do CSMA (receive). At 250mw in your pocket, it wouldn't cause
much of a problem, but as soon as these start getting hooked up to external
gain antennas, it is going to impact the throughput of the channel.

Has there been any discussion of this? One solution would be to hardwire the
rubber duck on the device (no connector) that way it could only be used in
its intended role. Otherwise, you might as well pitch out CSMA on APRS, even
for local areas, as this thing is going to sell like hotcakes.

Yea. Doesn't include the Altoids tin though, so I guess he's encouraging
fresh minty breath as well. That might be an advantage during upcoming
hamfests.

My intended use is out in the woods, with a base nearby and perhaps a
temporary digipeater as well. We can even time-slot the transmissions so
that our trackers won't interfere with each other. Depending on how much
trouble we have trying to operate on the main APRS freq, we may move to a
secondary freq.

For Search and Rescue use, I'm building a custom version of the OpenTracker
that'll fit in a DB25 connector shell to plug in to the accessory connector
on a Kenwood TK-790/890. I'm also modifying the standard board to work with
Motorola handhelds like the GP-68. If anyone else has used APRS with rigs
like these, or is interested in doing so in the future, let me know. I'm
thinking I might start a mailing list for this topic.

And before anyone brings up the legal question again, this isn't going to be
used for automated transmission - it'll be used for ANI-style mic encoder
operation only.

OK, the twice yearly change of our clocks has happend ... and I'm not sure
I've changed all my APRS "stuff" properly.

Bob, has stopped reminding all the APRSDos users what to do (all 3 of us ;-)
But when I changed my settings over, now I'm not seeing anywhere near as
much activity on my screen. Maybe I didn't do it right? or maybe others
need to change "stuff" over?

I'm not completly in the dark ages. I do have a D700 as well. What needs to
be changed on the 700 (if anything)?
