Bob, IIRC Google specifically does not index pages that do redirection, in
the assumption that they are dead pages and they'd rather index the targeted
page. You probably would want to confirm that (directly if possible) and if
you, perhaps do not redirect your old pages but put up a static page that
says 'Bob has moved, click here' so that the 'Bob has moved' page DOES
appear in search engines. And of course Google is not the only search
engine, you may want to speak to a web designer about optimizing the new
pages, or the redirect pages on the old server, so they reindex fater in the
search engines. That's a whole art in itself, don't bother with any ads
promising a tool to do it for $29.95.<G>
Google is a bit odd. They claim to rank pages based on the number of other
pages referring to them....which doesn't make sense to me, I suspect that's
a distraction and not their true policy.
Hopefully you will buy your own domain name. That becomes "yours" and can
be assigned to ANY server very quickly, so if you move again, you just move
your pages and the links don't have to be changed.
<If anyone has any brilliant advice, please feel free to comment to me...>
You do the best you can and be patient, there's no instant way to change
search engine results. It can take six months or longer under the best of
circumstances, till everyone changes their links and then the engines can
take another 90 days to reindex the seach results.
You can ask the sysadmin for the server logs on the server you have been
using. The server logs record the address of every visitor who has come to
your pages. Those that are "pool" addresses are useless, but you can massage
the list, throw those out, and email a change notification. A "real
webmaster" could knock that out in a couple of hours, max.

Hello folks,
I built my first TT3 (1.10) some days ago and replaced the internal beacon
of my Kenwood TM-D700 with it's Smart Beaconing capabilities (D700 in
TNC-APRS mode but BEACON switched off the same time and TT3 connected to
the Mini-DIN port at D700).
There's one thing I don't like: the data-port (Mini-DIN) transmits always
on the main band (the one, where 'PTT' is shown on display).
Is there a way to use Mini-DIN on the secondary band?
Are radios out there, that do support using data-connector for the
secondary TRX? (D700 doesn't do it, no matter what you set-up as data-band
in the menu)?

I've been doing just this for a very long time with no problems, i.e.,
Primary Band A:- APRS on 144.800 using internal TNC
Secondary Band B:- Local Packet BBS on 432.650 using external TNC via
mini DIN port.
Both bands work simultaneously but independently of each other with no
cross talk between the two sides.
My setup is as follows:-
1. From menu select Data Band 'A'
2. Make Band 'B' the primary band, i.e., the PTT indicator appears on
that side.
It's as simple as that.
I realize this may not be what you are trying to do, but I hope it points
you in the right direction.
Have fun!

Sorry, Ken,
what you describe is working for years here, too.
But not, what I wanted to do:
data (from external source connected to Mini-DIN) on one band
and voice on the other band.
I might have described it not clearly enough.

People
I have decided to open source my AntiTracker hardware and software - that
allows a GPS to be used in the field to monitor positions without a PC or D7
handheld.
http://www.radio-active.net.au/web/tracking/antitracker.html
http://www.radio-active.net.au/web/tracking/antitracker.zip
There are restrictions on the use of the software - the source code is open,
but I maintain the copyright on the code, and commercial exploitation of it
is prohibited. As is specifically building these units and selling them on
eBay.

Thank you for providing source code, but it doesn't really meet the
definition of "open source" with the restrictions you have on the code.
Under the Open Source Initiative's definition, which is at
http://www.opensource.org/docs/definition.php, to be open source you
cannot restrict it to non-business use, or prevent people from selling
the code.
Certainly allowing amateur/non-competitive access to the code is better
than many, and again, I thank you, and I don't mean this to be an
attack. I just want to point out that it isn't what is generally
referred to as open source.

I have been re reading docs, googling for a week and browsing sigs
without success. Hopefully someone can point me to a site or provide
the info.
I have been active with APRS for several years, weather station,
trackers, and recently accumulated enough used hardware and a broadband
connection to experiment with an internet station.
I am trying to simply echo local off the air data to a APRS server.
The rf side is working fine, I can receive data from the servers no
problem but other than initial station info no data to the servers.
Using the latest MacAprs 3.7.2 , and I am a registered user.
I am however confused with the echo port configuration, port list, tcp
settings, have tried several obvious hosts and ports without success.
I can connect and get the server Ip, the echo port opens, tcp panel
shows serial data accumulating but nothing going out other then basic
station report. I am on a house LAN but have opened the laptop ip to
all ports.
I must be missing something very basic, can someone offer advice on
host, port, telnet or point me to a configuration site.
Thanks,
KC2BRB
