As many CW stations as there are now, it would be nice to use APRSCW or
APCW or something to designate them.
APCWxx for station type maybe?
(Bob, feedback please)

Are these forms of APRSdos or something else entirely?
APRS37 1
APRS58 1
APRS65 1
APRS66 1
APRS82 1

This is true and let's not forget METAR's. It may be possible to have
authors of programs like WX-Display use a tocall like APRSWX.

The problem is there is no specific program being used for CW...some use
WinAPRS, some use weatherdisplay, some use others (last count there were 10
that supported CW). These are used by hams as well, so you cannot make a
blanket statement.

Agree completely. The Mic-E format is even more compressed. The Mic-E
format is preferred for mobiles and trackers. The only advantage of the
compressed format is for PRECISION to 1 FOOT if needed. Most uses of APRS
simply don't need it.
Yes, it could be used by base stations and DIGIS but the mobiles (most of
them Mic-E format) are the bulk of the traffic on the air...

Wow, can we get that changed in the next release of CW weather? I'd
suggest APCWxx for version number.
They should clearly be identifiable as a separate entity.
Thanks

There is no such thing as CW weather. CW is a program that is open to users
of any weather program that supports APRS.
As I say, last I heard was there were about 10 different weather programs
that supported this (though the majority use a program called WX Display),
and some CW people use full APRS programs.

I think if the users are smart enough to know how to enter their Citizens
Weather number into the program then we should make it easy enough for them
to set the TOCALL. But we should not give them free reign either or all
kinds of problems crop up...
I'd say that if they enter CWxxxx for their MYCALL, then the program should
automatically change the TOCALL to APCWxx

Hello all,
Looks like I am going to have to replace my Garmin 45XL. It has been a long
time since I have looked for a GPS. What is the best for the $ that you
know of? What about used ones (since it is getting to be time for
swapfests)? I use the GPS strictly for APRS.
Thanks and 73,

There weren't any showing in the data... I did take that destination into
account, though.

APWxxxx to calls represent 12.08% of the population that Jim presented in
the list he posted. That is the default prefix used by WinAPRS. So for
those users who have not changed it, this would be their counts into the
population.
