This could be done automatically pretty easily with a query directly to
the database, then manipulate the data as needed. I think you can even
query from MapPoint if you setup an ODBC connection for it.

I find it useful to export data from aprsworld.net into MS MapPoint. I
give me useful information to know where I was at certain times, days or
weeks ago. It also shows the APRS coverage of the areas I drive.
I'd imagine that this would be useful in reviewing an event where APRS
was used.
Pull the data from here:
http://maps.aprsworld.net/datamart/track.phtml?call=KG6JVE&weeks=&day=
s=5
&hours=&minutes=
Paste into a text file, convert spaces into commas, and import into
MapPoint or other mapping program.
Anyone else doing this?
Frank

Frank,
I do this sort of thing extensively for setting up public service event
maps. I generally go between Street Atlas, Mapinfo and UI- View. I use
PERL a lot for this, as PERL programs that do this conversion are very
simple.

Jimmy,
I'm not available to speak (from Dallas, anyway) but I am reworking
the "APRS for Public Service Events" presentation that I get to give
at Hamcom this year. I have some work to do on it, but you are
welcome to use the presentation.

I don't know whether t/n shows the non-NWS prefix messages (SKYLOT for
example). Roger Bille (javAPRSFilter author) would need to answer this
question. That may be what you are seeing.

It looks like the prefix/budlist filter 'does' work becuase I just saw LOT
traffic with it but did NOT see the messages with the t/n filter,
(different box), so it looks like there is a problem at the server end,
maybe.

tiger maps are US only, more than a third of findU users are outside the
US. They also do not have the capacity to support findU, which averages
over 2 maps per second, peak is much higher.

Non-NWS prefix messages will also be passed when using the t/n filter.

Have done similar things with Xastir. You can snag any station's track for
the previous two weeks from findu. Tweak the code and you can snag
positions back further. Plots the track directly onto the Xastir map
screen. Timestamps are wrong, but everything else looks correct.
You can then snag the data from the file downloaded as well, which is still
on disk until you do the next query.

Cleaning out old mail. Id like clarificaiton of the above.
I pray it isnt true.
An IGate that hears ANY packet locally from a station should add that
station to his LOCAL list (independent of whether it is a position of not),
and indepnedent of any distance filters computed on what the position
claimed to be...
