Anyone cross-compiled Xastir or any other APRS client
so it runs on a Sharp Zaurus (linux based PDA)?

PCsat logs 2678 Users after 30 months in orbit.
Steve K4HG did a search of the FINDU database and reports 2678 stations
have been heard and logged by FINDU via PCsat.
PCsat is currently unusable in negative power budget but may return in May
when she gets some full sun again.

Not that I know of. Xastir would be about the only graphical client and it
depends on the X system as well as Motif libraries. Those are not compact by
any means. The native graphics system on the Z' is qt, I believe. You can
install X, but it's huge and untested. I don't know about Motif.
The upshot is, it probably woulnd't be worth it. Xastir's minimum screen
size (to show all the menus) is wider than the Zaurus screen.
There's a chance you could run aprsd or digi_ned or aprsdigi, but what good
would that do you? ;-)
There might be a PalmOS emulator for the Zarus. Then you could run PocketAPRS.

Subject: ALINCO DJ-S41 COR Squelch Mods

DJ-S41 MODS:
The little $69 Alinco DJ-S41 UHF HT is a cheap aux receiver. I needed one
for a cross band link and so needed access to the Noise Squelch circuit (SD
on the schematic).
Here's where it is. Remove radio back (lots of screws). You will see under
the battery compartemnt 4 gold lands labeled C3C, GND, DAT and CLK. Turn
radio so these read right side up in that order.
Now to the left of the DAT label you will see a large traingle/trapezoidal
land ending in a square at the "top". Adjacent to that top, are 3 tiny
holes. The middle one is the SD squelch line.
With a hi-Z voltemeter this line will cycle on/off with the receivers SLEEP
cycle (which cannot be disabled). BUT! If you ground this pin slightly
with a 56K resistor, it biases the pin from an open circuit 2.8v down to
about 1.2 volts which opens the squelch and also makes the CPU wake up the
receiver and leave it always on.
But this squelch line still does go to 0 volts when there is a quieting
signal. So instead of the 56k resistor, use a 47k resistor to the base of
an NPN transistor and now you have an open collector on signal, and
pull-to-ground on noise.
Remember though, this radio has no external antenna connection, only a
flip-up antenna, so while you have the back off, you can connect a piece of
sub-mini coax to the two-pin antenna connector while you are in there. Its
right next to the gold pin that contacts the flip-antenna.

Is the configuration program part of the source distribution? I am running
digi_ned on my Linux server. It working with my tracker, the only station
on RF (other than the digi) in the area.
Thanks,

If anyone has a manual for the KPC-9612 ------ (not the plus) please
contact me off list.
I am looking for the calibrate procedure for bothe ports. There seems to be
quite a bit of difference between the 9612 and plus models.
Thanks in advance
