Why not use the UIFLOOD WIDE,FIRST that Kenwood supports? (Does initial
callsign substitution but not a full trace.)

Has anyone any pointers on using Canadian Toporama maps with Xastir or
UI-View? I have an old P100 notebook I want to dedicate to APRS. Not sure
if I want to run Win98 and UI-View or Linux and Xastir. Do these programs
support a moving map using aconnected GPS, similar to OziExplorer?

I was just wondering how people get the data out of the gps, what pins, etc?

Good idea! That is even better (as long as there are no bugs). ...
awaiting test...

I used the interface board available via the TAPR site. The Oncore does
not output RS232 directly, as I recall. There is a bunch of information
available on the Oncore itself at: http://www.synergy-gps.com/TR_Manual.html
The interface board is at: http://www.tapr.org/tapr/html/Fvpib.html
Just as an aside, I am troubleshooting a bug somewhere between my Oncore
and my TT3. It seems to be on the Oncore side, with the GZDA getting
clobbered or something like that.

Mike Galgano

I have setup a mailing list for sending out times/dates of sattelite
passes over Houston, TX with plans to add more locations as requested
(within reason).
It sends out an e-mail once a week (Tuesday) with the times and other
info for SO-50, AO-27, ISS, NO-44, NO-45, SO-41. All keps are updated
from the amsat website just before the passes are generated.
I am currently setting up Los Angeles, Chicago and New York and looking
for suggestions on other locations as well as any other birds that
people work alot.
The idea behind this is that you can get an e-mail once a week with all
the info on the passes over the next 7 days so you can plan your week.
Thanks for your input,
Mark Lewis

I am looking at a TH-D7A for mobile use but was wondering if there was any
way to display the radios screen on a external device?
Reasoning for this is that I love the minimal display of the D7A but the
small display looks like it would be a pain to see. A friend on mine in the
car audio business mentioned that some CD/MP3/DVD in-dash units have a 5"-7"
LCD display screen built-in to them and I was thinking that the display
screen would make for better viewing.

Why not spend the extra bucks and get the D-700 instead?

I think http://www.heavens-above.com/ has something similar. Looks like the
site is down at the moment, though.

I used the D-7 mobile for a while. Sat it in the dash mounted cup holder
near the drivers door. I had no problem with the display. I am 68 years
old and use trifocals so it needs to be at the proper height for me. I
changed to a D-700 because the power of the D-7 did not quite cut it on my
long trips around the US.

The D7A question/idea I sent out earlier was pretty stupid but I was tired
and didn't think it thru first.
SORRY
