I know that people have hacked in the the Onstar GPS, but has anyone
spliced the antenna connection for two GPS receivers? Would this work or
would I loose too much signal? I tried searching the list but couldnt
find anything.

Subject: SSTV question

This is driving me nuts. I'm unable to find ANY technical description of
the SSTV modulation formats online. I KNOW I've seen this before, years
ago - probably in a magazine. Surely they must be documented someplace.
The reason I'm asking is that I'm still thinking about an idea for a cheap
hardware SSTV encoder. Old parallel port QuickCams are available dirt cheap
on eBay, and information is available on how to interface them to a
microcontroller. The camera's got its own internal frame buffer, so
depending on the output format it may even be possible to generate the
signal on the fly as data is clocked out of the camera. This would be a fun
project for balloon experiments.
I understand there are some formats favored for higher-speed VHF use. Are
there any optimized for 9600 baud capable radios? Seems to me that any
radio capable of 9600 baud data ought to be able to pump out an analog SSTV
frame pretty quick given the right modulation format.
Anyway, if you know where I can find technical information on SSTV formats,
please let me know!

GPS World magazine is the standard GPS industry publication. This months'
online mag has an article on receivers capable of determining position
indoors, predominently for satisfying cellular e911 requirements. This, of
course, would be nifty for APRS. If you are in a tech industry, you might
be able to qualify for a free subscription. This isn't the article, but
it's free: http://www.gpsworld.com/gpsworld/article/articleDet

Kenwood had their fast-fm format, in the VC-H1s, but I don't know where it
would be documented.
