Subject: KPC3 and a Radio Shack HTX-212

Hello,
I am wondering if anybody has the correct wiring diagram to connect a KPC3
to a Radio Shack Htx-212 Cat #19.1125. I have tried the diagram on racket
radio dot com and when I plug it up the radio goes into a fast switching tx
and rx. If anybody can help I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks

Can someone give me the real brief how to set the TOCALL in WinAPRS?
Currently the users in the area that are using it have packets going to
APW251 or APW243 and then VIA something. In order for some local
scripts to work we want to change these. I know it is not typical to
change that from what the software is, but we have a need to do so.
Screen shots would be great!

Thanks,

Whadya know! Someone bought some of the $2.50 cables with molded 2.5MM
plugs, and probably soldered them to $1.00 pFranc Purple Computing
Garmin plugs.

I really didn't think anyone would find it commercially viable to make
such an application-specific cable, given that:

1) The total population of TH-D7 / D700s isn't that huge
2) Hams are incredibly cheap about buying hardware.

Subject: Wx tracker code

Hi

I am looking for some code to build a stand alone weather tracker. I want
to build a number of simple transmitters with out using a PC or a TNC.

It would use a PIC that has analog inputs for the temp, digital for the
wind speed and direction.

This is a project to provide some weather data for a mountain cycle race
next year. ie to give wind & temp data so that we can decide when to plan
rider changes.

Send me plane tickets and I'll fly down there and build it for you. =]
Didn't get a chance to explore the south island much last time I was there.

I don't care for the Microchip PICs myself, but if you want to use a
Motorola HC08, I've got some code to get you started. In fact, I'll
probably eventually write a weather station version of the firmware, but
it's not high on my list right now. Like the WXTrak and TinyTrak, it'd use
the same hardware, but unlike the TinyTrak it's flash updateable so you can
change the personality without touching the hardware. Plus, it's already
got an on-board LM335 temperature sensor, and analog and digital inputs
available on a 10-pin header.

Jim, KB0THN, is probably someone you want to talk to. He's got his own
low-cost APRS weather stations - I'll probably be getting some of those
myself for paraglider launch and landing sites here.

Subject: Tracker behavior with invalid GPS

Ok, quick user poll... what should your configuration options be for telling
a tracker how to handle invalid GPS data? I know the older TinyTraks at
least didn't have an option to hold off on bad data. I think now it's just
a yes/no option on whether it transmits with bad data or not.

Example...

A. Don't transmit at all when GPS fix is invalid
B. Continue transmitting last fix indefinitely
C. Continue transmitting last fix for X minutes
D. Transmit data with some sort of positional ambiguity
E. ?

And if anyone's interested, the OpenTracker now transmits altitude properly
in both APRS and OpenTRAC formats:

aprs: fm N1VG-6 to APOT01 via RFONLY ctl UI^ pid=F0(Text) len 29
0000 !3457.54N/12025.44W[/A=000205
aprs: fm N1VG-6 to OPNTRK via RFONLY ctl UI^ pid=77(OPENTRAC) len 13
OpenTRAC decode (13 bytes):.
EID 0x10 len 11: Position: Lat 34.959067 Lon -120.424095 Alt 62.500000
meters.
