Yes, I have an AutoPC 301C (first generation) installed with the GPS
option.
It is an 8 channel polling receiver, kinda slow and precision is not as
good as my Garmin GPS-III mounted in the same vehicle. Part of the GPS
option is in a external module that plugs into the AutoPC processor unit
under the dash, I believe the external piece is only the antenna but not
sure.

There is some rather expensive (for what it does) software that runs on
the AutoPC for turn-by-turn mapping and directions. The included
software, 'Directions' is obsolete and since its burned into the ROM
with the OS (WinCE2 Automotive) you can't replace it or update it.

There are a couple third party software packages which are nice;
Omega Software's 'GPS Clock' is a screen saver app that can sync the
AutoPC clock to GPS time and will function as a screen saver displaying
time, as well as a mini compass indicating direction, and has a text
display showing current speed.
'Speed Trap' monitors vehicle speed as recorded by the GPS. You can set
alarm points in MPH and have the AutoPC play a .WAV file of your choice
when the alarm point is reached. The 10 radio preset buttons function as
preset alarm point when Speed Trap has focus.

I would be interested in acquiring a replacement GPS antenna as mine is
starting to signs of deterioration after close to four years in the
weather. If you could please pass on the source information you have.
Mine still works but the case will bite the dust soon.

You can see a photo of the AtuoPC, TH-D7A, GPS-III, and IC-706 mounted
in my truck here;
http://www.qsl.net/n2iph/Hummer.html
scroll down about half way through the pics. these are some older
photos, I have cleaned up the mounting and re-arranged things some what
since these were taken. Sorry, no photo of the GPS antenna itself on
these pages.

Has anyone used a Clarion GPS from their autopc? I found a source of
these
for about $50.00 each with shipping.

The GPS has an external mag mount antenna (included) and uses a small
interface board with a 74LS07 on it.

I'm trying to set up an old system for someone, and just blew away what was
on it to put down 'known' data.

But I made a mistake.

It has a JAZZ16 sound card in it, with a single speed Sony CD player
attached to the sound card, NOT to the IDE channel for ATA.

Anyone know where I can pick up a driver to recognize this CD from DOS just
so I can load suff onto the HD?

Maybe this is a simple question but not for a APRS old timer like me that
still runs a dumb tracker. Will the Kenwood D700 upload waypoints to a
Garmin GPS V as they are received if it is wired up properly ?

I have seen the TH-7A do this to certain Etrex units in the past. The front
end of my TM-V7A died a week ago, I think my IC-2100H tracker fried the
front end on the Kenwood or it just died, who knows. Got my bi-annual trip
from SFL to NNJ coming up and no time to repair the V7A so I was thinking
of caving in and getting a D700 finally for Christmas, or maybe not and
wiring up a Motorola Maxtrac since the V7A will be repaired when I return.

Any ideas ? It would be nice to plot the stations on the GPS, usefull
feature for me, if it does not I may pass for now, seems prices are
starting to drop finally to $459 from some dealers, maybe more in the near
future.

Not 100% sure of the V, but the D-700 will send waypoints to a GPS
capable of receiving them. My II+ units will do this, my early model
Street Pilot will not (later ones will). I believe that the V is a
development of the II+-III+ line, so it should.

This was posted on the OZAPRS list and I thought I'd copy it here

Yes, the D700 and D7A/G's will send Waypoints to any GPS with NEMA
in and out. I works with my Garmin GPSII+, GPS V and Streetpilot III.
Tested and proved.

Thanks everyone...Yes the GPS V is a model of the GPS 3 line so it
should work as others have stated.

Now the decision... wire up a old Maxtrac for the trip and buy a
TS-2000 (ouch!) to replace my aging TS-850S/AT and use that for HF
mobile on the holidays or buy a D700 and keep peace with the wife! I can
probably get away with the 2000 since I usually swap HF rigs every 10-12
years. Shame that the 2000 will not do APRS.

Decisions...Decisions...
