Another possible issue - the basic stamp uses the PIC's PWM output for tone
generation. Which is what I'm doing with the OpenTracker. But if it's not
using a buffer output, changing the PWM parameters on the fly can cause
incorrect output for a couple of cycles. Not enough to notice if you're
generating tones for the human ear, but enough to totally trash the signal.
My first attempt with PWM came out almost as white noise.

Referencing the APRSteward Proposal and the already existing system at:
http://www.jnos.org/nwprs_usage.html ...
Excellent work, Bill! This a a huge step in the right direction. At least
you reach the "biggest offender" each day (which is more than others are
doing now).
It would be a true "Steward of the APRS LAN" if one could set any number of
triggers; any of which would send an email to the "tripper". Included,
could be things like:
o Excessive path in UNPROTO
o UNPROTO 'common sense' violations (R,G,G,W)
o Fixed-location TX intervals higher than once every n-minutes
o Stationary trackers with TX intervals as if they were moving
o The ability to NOT email someone who may be tripping any of the above
triggers because they have a good reason to be doing so
Very well done!

It is working now. There was a failure on one of the core servers today
which may have caused the problem. When you changed to the range filter
may have been when aprswest switched primary feeds making it seem like
the filter was the problem. You should be able to go back to the area
filter if you want with no problems.

Scott, all of this brings up a question I've had about OpenTracker. Am I
mistaken, thinking that a 1200HZ tone, at 1200 baud, means you get only one
cycle to the bit? Isn't this a bit difficult to detect without a PLL?
How are you doing it? Do you mind sharing the secret? Just a guess, are you
counting the zero crossings? Enquiring minds want to know!

I have a dumb, simple question... when looking at my position on findu.com,
I see that I am a street awy from where I really am located.
I would not wonder about this if MY map had the same "error", or if I did
not enter the exact position from the display on the GPS into the program
(APRSpoint in this case).
While this does not "bother" me, when I showed off the concept of findu.com,
a question was raised about the use if it is so far off.

Easy... not doing it at all, right now! Like the TinyTrak, it's only doing
an energy detect. I'd like to see if it's feasible to decode packets using
a zero crossing detector in software, but it's not high on my list right
now. Plus, the KX8 has a distinct shortage of RAM for decoding purposes.
The plan right now is to provide all the required signals at a pin header so
that you could add on a daughter board with a PLL and extra serial RAM. Not
sure if it'd fit in the case, though.
