Hey group,

Does anybody have the pinout for the 8-pin mini DIN on a PacComm Handi
Packet? I'd really appreciate. I bought a FT-1500M for my weather station
(KB0THN-2), but the manual for the TNC is in Minnesota and I'm in Iowa.

Thanks in advance,

-Jim

Thanks to Ken and Cap who sent me the information I needed to get the PacCom
Handi Packet running.

Here is another data point. We set TXD to 10 (100 ms) on PCsat and as a
digipeater, it seems to work well and makes the pacekts 20% shorter than
the default of 300 ms.

Hi list,

It looks like the NSTAR flight landed this morning about 10:20AM CDT. Hope
the recovery has been successful.

It was a complete blast tracking them. I used my FT-1500M with an
approximately 19 inch long piece of aluminium fill rod, stuck right into
the back of the radio, as an antenna. Copied 203 packets from the baloon to
Ames, IA where I live. I guess the closest the baloon was from me was about
80 miles, but I was copying it almost the whole flight.

I put up a static track of the baloon with altitude, speed, and change in
altitude plots on aprsworld.

http://www.aprsworld.net/info/n9xtn-11/12oct2003/

I put together that page by hand, but I intend to create a tracking page
that it more relevant for baloon and aircraft flights. What specifically
would the baloon and aviation APRS communities be looking for?

73's,

-Jim KB0THN

Actually, isn't this the simplest solution? Set your system for 100ms. If
your transceiver can't do 100ms (a tenth of a second), use a different one.

Ev, W2EV

Let the whining about how much it will cost to change transceivers begin.

Actually with flash, if you have to write to a file treat it like a
circular buffer so writes get spread evenly over its whole length and make
them big enough that it takes a day or more to get back to the beginning.
