Now you have to be careful when making these comparisons.

Unless there have been developments of late in the hardware achitecture of the
Amiga - you will find that the operating system is NOT read from a disk.

It is stored in a ROM instead - that WILL make it run soooo much quicker.

No worrying about switching off at the main switch when in the middle of
work - no disk crashes and almost instant bootup times.

The drawback is that if a new operating system is required or the old
one needs adding to then its a new ROM or the old one needs flashing.

Although it must be said that Amiga and Workbench O/S have an excellent
reputation anyway and the upgrade treadmill unheard of.

Just get hold of an old A1200 (8Mhz processor ?) and see it fly even by
todays pc standards. And the processor names are good fun too - try looking
at a motherboard :-)

The problem is theres NO development to speak of for software anymore - it
stopped years ago.
