G'day Ian. I don't think most Australians saw any harm in the song by
Charlie Drake. Yes I remember him; He had a TV show on over here. I guess
it came from the BBC.
The problem here is the politically correct who look for problems and then
voice their displeasure. Most of the people I mix with are fed up with
political correctness and they say so.Chairperson, sportsperson we get all
the time from the PC. What is wrong with "man" or"woman"?
A few months ago on a music site based in the USA I mentioned a "negro
singer" and was immediately taken to task by one of the Americans on the
list. He said the word "negro" was insulting to the African American
people and should not be used. I apologised and said I always thought the
word meant "black" and if so what was wrong with it?

"Native Australians?" Yes it is used but it does not necessarily mean
"black". I am a native Australian simply because I was born here so it
applies to white and coloured. The term they use for aboriginals now is
"indigenous."

"I'm a big disgrace to the Aborigine race,
My boomerang won't come back."

No one saw it as any big deal back then. The song was mildly funny. Things
have changed a lot since those days and it would probably be banned now.

>here's a thought, do they talk about "Native Australians" in Oz now?
