I don't like games much, there is only one PC game I have ever played. I
bought it first on a single floppy.Lost it, then bought it on a CD.

It is DOS based. As it's name implies, it involves building a civilisation
from 7 tribes in 4,000 BC to a unified world in 2,100 AD.

There is no rapid movement. It isn't a 'shoot 'em up' game, neither is it
a board game. You have a set of scenes, ships and aircraft which you can
use to travel around the world, as you discover it, of course.

That might trigger some memories or prompt some ideas. It can be all key
or keyboard and mouse controls BTW.

I have played it on a number of computers with no problems including two
I have had for the last couple of years.

The problem is, at a certain date, the programme freezes. It has just
happened. I had reached 1980 but, as soon as it counted up to 1981, it
froze. I have used the tactic of loading a saved game from an earlier date
then playing some different moves. This sometimes works but I haven't got
to 2100 for a long time. 1980 is a long game now. Occasionally, it freezes
while still in BC after just 200 years or so.

There was a Civilization two but I never liked it. Yes, I have had a look
around the internet but all I can find is a later version which doesn't
need much skill, though the graphics are better.

Has anyone got any ideas? Any tests I can try. Better still a website for
old games. I have heard it is possible to download old games like PacMan
from some site or other, which is far older than Civilization so there may
be a chance.

Any help very welcome.

All the best from - Ian, G0TEZ @ GB7FCR
