CES JOURS LA, DANS L'EXPLORATION DE L'ESPACE
IL Y A 14 ans
Le 24 avril 1990, au Cap Canaveral, lancement de MILA de la mission
STS-31/OV-103. La navette Discovery et son équipage: cdt L Shriver,
C Bolden, S Hawley, B McCandless, Kathryn Sullivan, lanceront avec
succès l'extraordinaire et très attendu télescope optique Hubble HST.
C'est un événement que note avec plaisir la communauté des astronomes.
La caméra IMAX-04 sera aussi du voyage. L'astronaute McCandless fera
un test spectaculaire d'un fauteuil volant lors d'une EVA. La navette
restera en vol 5 jours et 1 heure. C'est à la suite des tests sur le
satellite que l'on constatera avec dépit et consternation que l'optique
du satellite est défaillante (myopie optique). Le retour de Discovery
sur terre se fera sans problème.
