AMSAT-NA Echo Satellite Integration
AMSAT News Service Bulletin 018a.01 From AMSAT HQ
SILVER SPRING, MD. January 18, 2004
To All RADIO AMATEURS
BID: $ANS-018a.01
An integration and testing team, lead by Jim White (WD0E) and Mike Kingery
(KE4AZN), was assembled in December 2003 at SpaceQuest in Fairfax, VA.
During this initial integration session, 90% of Echo's hardware was
successfully tested and most of the telemetry calibration was accomplished.
Even the new experimental L-band receiver and S-band transmitter functioned
well during their first tests.
The Integration Team would like to give their thanks to the following for
their support during Integration:
-The SpaceQuest team for their great support.
-Harold Price, NK6K, for his donation of the kernel and file system and his
support during this effort.
-Bob Diersing, N5AHD, for his timely work on the boot loader.
-Skip Hansen, WB6YMH, for his efforts on the ground station software.
-The AMSAT project management team for their help and assistance, especially
Rick Hambly, W2GPS, and Dick Daniels, W4PUJ.
-David Bern, W2LNX, for his assistance with the ground station hardware.
Many action items were documented and are being resolved by the development
team during January and February. A final integration session will be
scheduled soon.
