Hi there..
It's been a while since I last put out a packet bulletin as we have
been very busy adding lots more pages to our website. If you haven't
logged-on for a while, here are some of the recent additions..
The website can be found at http://www.southgatearc.org
* 3-ELEMENT YAGI FOR 2 METRES *
This easy-to-construct design by G8MNY is ideal for those /Portable
operations.
* LOW COST, 3-BAND WIRE HF DX ANTENNA *
Mel Fisher G4WYW shows us how to construct a very cheap, yet highly
effective, tri-band HF antenna.
* QUALITY CRYSTAL RADIO SET *
If you've ever wanted to construct a crystal radio set but somehow
never quite got round to it, then this high quality design, using
modern-day components, is just for you. This design from John G8MNY,
will let you tune the medium and long waves - and all without a
battery in sight.
* HUMOUR *
It's been a while since we've updated our humour section. So, we've
put together another 20 pages of humour. If you are in need of a
giggle, just click on Humour from our main page.
* HF ANTENNERS FOR APARTMENT DWELLERS *
While most of us are lucky enough to have at least some room in the
garden to erect an antenna, those of us living in apartment blocks
are not quite so lucky. Mel Fisher, G4WYW, returns with some very
useful (if not downright sneaky) ideas and tips for the apartment
dweller wishing to get out onto the HF bands.
* WOOFFERTON AND KRANJI *
Richard Buckby, G3VGW, takes us on a tour of the BBC's Woofferton
Transmitter site in Shropshire. We then jet-off to Singapore
and visit the BBC's Far Eastern Relay Station in Kranji.
But, will Richard be able to find Turut Track, where the site is
located? SWL's can also find Richard's Short Wave listings in our
'Listeners' section.
* AMSAT-UK *
We have full details of the forthcoming AMSAT-UK Space Colloquium
and Symposium. Visitors to this 3-day event will be able to attend
a lecture by Professor Colin Pillinger - the man behind the Beagle 2
Mars lander. Full details of this event can be found on our website.
* NIGRITUDE ULTRAMARINE *
What on earth is 'Nigritude Ultramarine'? Well, we could tell you,
but why not get up-to-speed by reading the article in 'QSY' - our
new section featuring interesting articles which are not necessarily
amateur radio related. There's just about everything from computing
to cooking, internet to infidelity. We're adding to these pages
almost daily, so why not check it out.
* FREE HAM LOG-BOOK PROGRAM *
If you're in need of a good QSO logging program, Kevin Rea K6REA has just
the ticket. You'll find details of how to download this program on our
website. What's more - it's absolutely FREE!
So, please drop in for a visit. You'll find us at:
www.southgatearc.org
We're looking forward to your visit.
