Hi there..
We've added a few more updates to our Club's website this week, which can be
found at http://www.southgatearc.org
* THE GREAT ERG RACE 2003 *
As last year's winners, the Southgate Club played host to this fun, inter club
competition, where the teams are challenged to build a working ????? from the
box of parts supplied. The teams had no prior knowledge as to what it is they
were expected to build - and the box of parts supplied contained more than the
odd surprise. Find out just what WAS in the box, what it was they were
challenged to build and how the teams got on.
* SPEECH PRE-AMPLIFIER COMPRESSOR *
Another great little circuit from John Stockley, G8MNY. Using just a handfull
of components, this is another easy-to-build circuit which could enhance your
station's operation.
* GOOD DX IS COMING *
"Get your antennas pruned and your gear in top shape for some nice DX in a
few year's time." So says Roger Cooke G3LDI, who offers us some interesting
NASA research into sunspot activity which could signal some good DX
conditions to come in the next few years.
* WHAT DID YOU DO AT THE WEEKEND? *
Some people do the gardening, others the shopping. However Malcolm G7VRT
spends his weekends with the Air Cadet Organisation. Learn more of his
involvment with this organisation and how he set-up the demonstration
Radio Communication Station at this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT)
held at RAF Fairford.
* TONY's TEN *
The 10 metre band is alive and well, with plenty of activity in the last
few days. Tony Dixon, G4CJC has the details in his latest update.
* The SARC QUIZ *
Look out for a new, light-hearted Quiz which will be starting soon.
We'll have dozens of easy-to-answer 'Multiple Choice' or 'True or False'
questions on a variety of subjects including General Knowledge, Sport,
History and Geography, and maybe the odd Amateur Radio or
Electronics question thrown in too. The quiz will also feature a leader board
to track the Top-20 quiz takers, and your score will be sent to you
automatically each time you take part in a quiz. So, why not give it a try?
