Hi there..
A few more updates to our Club's website this week, which can be found at
http://www.southgatearc.org
* MICROPHONE PRE-AMPLIFIER CIRCUIT *
Need some extra gain for your mobile mic?
This easy-to-build 2-transistor microphone pre-amplifier circuit from
G8MNY should prove just the ticket. Includes full constructional details.
* GET GOING ON THE FOUR-METRE BAND *
With more and more countries now being allowed access to the four-metre
band, interest in getting onto this fascinating band is growing.
Southgate Club members are very active on 4m, using a collection of
converted Marconi radios. Club member and 4m enthusiast Peter Tuck G8YNC
takes a brief look at getting started on the band.
* TONY's TEN *
Tony Dixon G4CJC - just back from a month-long holiday in Australia -
gets his 10m rig fired up once again, looking for activity on the band.
* TRANSMISSION 2003 *
This annual event takes place THIS WEEKEND - 20th and 21st September.
The contest is in aid of the British Wireless for the Blind Fund, which
this year marks its 75th anniversary. Radio amateurs are challenged to
raise as much money through sponsorship as possible. There are prizes for
the most money raised, and for the most contacts. The competition is open
to both clubs and individuals alike.
You will need to HURRY if you wish to take part in this contest. You can
get sponsorship forms and a quantity of the special Transmission 2003 QSL
cards by using the application form on our website. BWFB will then post
them to you directly. So, if you wish to take part, please don't delay!

* PACKET - PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE *
Roger Cooke G3LDI looks at the rise and fall in the popularity of packet
radio and asks whether radio amateurs are turning their backs on packet
in favour of the Internet? You can have your say on the subject too.
Read Roger's article, then tell us whether YOU agree with his views or not.
* WYSIWYG - WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET *
(well, not always)
ATV enthusiasts often find that, when framing a picture in the camera's
viewfinder, What You See isn't always What You Get! John Stockley, G8MNY
explains how to adjust your camera's viewfinder to correct these faults.
So, please drop in for a visit. You'll find us at:
www.southgatearc.org
We're looking forward to your visit.
