Hello all,
I just got my Jingtong radios today. They are a lightweight, very
inexpensive radio. The manual that comes with it is a joke, but good
english versions can be found via the internet. If given the chance make
sure to get a speaker mike and a replacement antenna. The little whip
antenna that comes with it as could be expected is just not very good. I
bought a dual band hi gain replacement antenna for it and have been very
happy. I have 1 of each a 208 vhf, and 308 uhf. the 208 with the hi gain
antenna hits a repeater about 25 miles away. I am very happy. These
radios are perfect for someone just getting into the hobby. I bought mine
from http://www.radiogearpro.com The radios themselves where $48.00 each
shipping included from hong kong. The vhf model covers 136-174 and the
uhf model covers 400-460 within 2 minutes of receiving them I was on the
air. They are not fcc type accepted, but are fine for amateur radio use.
If you are looking for inexpensive HT's you can't go wrong with these
radios. The only feature missing from them is DTMF, which I don't use
around here anyway's. The vhf model is 3 watts the uhf model is 2.5. All
in all I would give these little guys 8 out of 10.
