Andy, it was some years ago, I don't remember what year - maybe 20 years
ago.
The 40 metre band here suffers from Asian pirates, mainly Indonesian and
Malaysian, some of them apprently on fishing boats.In addition there are
some BC stations of dubious origin. 10.1 is not used much, nor are 18 and
24 as far as I can see.
As I said in previous bulletins there are occasional openings on 14 but
that band is all but dead most of the time.
Incidentally I was out this afternoon but when I arrived home there was a
message on my answering machine from a VK5 who was copying our local
beacons on both 144 and 432 megs. That is through ducting across the Great
Australian Bight - a long haul for VHF/UHF.
