That reminds me, the UK CB licence (that hardly anyone has) includes an
"amateur style" callsign to use as an option. I think the format is
like 2K1FT, 2 prefix and two letters. Packet is allowed I think on three
channels.
Actually I wouldn't mind if CB traffic got onto our amateur network, so
long as it was clean and relevant. I'd suggest approved gateways that CB
packet must forward to,held and checked and then released onto the network.
Lets face it, both CB and amateur radio are for the John Doe's/Joe Public's
to use.
I tend to think as 27Mhz as being a deregulated ham band, 27Mhz once being
part of the 10m band many many years ago [source - The Radio Amateurs Handbook
(ARRL) 1954]
