Hi Ray and all,

Don't worry, you'll not take over David's waffle award, your bulls are
interesting. Besides, waffles with maple syrup are good for breakfast.
(;->)

I'm not a walking rule book so if interested you can always download Part
97 from just about anywhere. What sticks in my mind is that repeaters had
to ID with /R but that's been dropped in recent years, could be the FCC
realized we're smart enough to recognize a repeater when we hear one. The
term "private" is wide open to interpretation so I'll go with "closed"
which means it's not open to use by the general ham population. Those are
very few, they either use a secret CTCSS access tone and/or the control
operator will inform of the fact and request the ham to cease. Naturally
this practice is frowned on but legal and the group is within it's rights.

Ah yes, the sexy femal ID! The repeater previously mentioned had one with
a rather suggestive (but clean) announcement, unfortunately the ham moved
and his repeater is no more. It was one of many "low profile" local
machines as opposed to those with wide area coverage and he also operated
a land line dial in BBS. Remember those? For those who don't they were
the "internet" version of a packet BBS except for not being part of a
network and quite dissimilar to the well known web sites of today, there
WAS no internet when they got started. The last one I know of was run by
a friend and fellow ham right up to the bitter end in the mid 1990s. BTW,
the bigger ones used WATS 800 toll free numbers and were mostly in
California (naturally, hi). Now what was I saying about land line lids?
('->)

Back to the sexy ID for a moment, I sure wish I had a recording of WB3HUZ
Steve The HUZ Man's 75M AM ID, his wife had us drooling all over our
mics. Then I realized that most of those sexy female DJs you hear have
"radio faces" as we say in the biz and the bubble burst. Darn, he's on
the web but I've never seen any photos of either of them, just a lot of
big metal cabinets and large glowing glass bottles inside. Well, to an
AMer that's sexy! (Please don't tell my psychiatrist.)

That's my waffle for today, too bad the syrup won't modulate.
