Andy, one thing to remember is that the RSGB hold the licence for each and
every repeater in this Country.
Surely they have a say in how they are to be operated.

Quoting from your message.....
}
} I noticed the following today - another RSGB farce.
}
} How could *anyone* ever justify being a member of this crass club of
} cretins ?
}
} - start of quote -
}
} Radio Society of Great Britain
} Repeater Management Committee
} Minutes of Meeting 27th January 2007
} Held At Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel
}
} ...
}
} E: Guide to Repeater Licensing
}
} A meeting was held at RSGB HQ on 26 January 2007 to discuss the draft
} Guide to Repeater Licensing. It was broadly accepted, but some amendments
} are required. Ofcom will implement these.
}               ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
}
} A particular point was noted regarding the content of voice announcements.
} These should only contain information relative to the repeater such as
} CTCSS access tone frequency, location of repeater and callsign.
}
} Weather information, speaking clock etc are not acceptable.
} ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
}
} - end of quote -
}
} "OFCOM will implement these changes" - is the RSGB telling OFCOM what
} to do now ?
}
} And as for weather information and speaking clock - we can't have that
} can we ?
}
} I wonder what evidence has been put forward to stop such "advancements"
} of amateur radio taking place ;-)
}
} How pathetic !
}
} - Andy -
