I noticed the following today - another RSGB farce.

How could *anyone* ever justify being a member of this crass club of
cretins ?

- start of quote -

Radio Society of Great Britain
Repeater Management Committee
Minutes of Meeting 27th January 2007
Held At Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel

...

E: Guide to Repeater Licensing

A meeting was held at RSGB HQ on 26 January 2007 to discuss the draft
Guide to Repeater Licensing. It was broadly accepted, but some amendments
are required. Ofcom will implement these.
              ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

A particular point was noted regarding the content of voice announcements.
These should only contain information relative to the repeater such as
CTCSS access tone frequency, location of repeater and callsign.

Weather information, speaking clock etc are not acceptable.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

- end of quote -

"OFCOM will implement these changes" - is the RSGB telling OFCOM what
to do now ?

And as for weather information and speaking clock - we can't have that
can we ?

I wonder what evidence has been put forward to stop such "advancements"
of amateur radio taking place ;-)

How pathetic !
