This is the second bull I've seen about this. Both writers are obviously
displeased but as I'm not a 160m op I don't know why they are so concerned.
They must have good reason to be so upset. Can they share that with others
like me who don't know why?
I've just had a look at the UK bandplan based on the IARU bandplan for 160m
in the UK and it says:-
Freq B/W
1,810-1,838 200 Hz Telegraphy
1,838-1,840 500 Hz Narrow band modes
1,840-1,843 2.7 kHz All modes
1,843-2,000 2.7 kHz Telephony (Note 1), Telegraphy
1,836 kHz QRP (low power) Centre of Activity,
1,960 kHz DF Contest beacons (14dBW)
Note 1: Lowest LSB carrier frequency (dial setting) should be 1,843 kHz.
AX25 packet should not be used on the 1.8 MHz band.
LICENCE NOTES: 1,810-1,850 kHz Primary User: 26dBW permitted.
1,850-2,000 kHz Secondary User: 15dBW permitted.
So it would appear that the proposal does appear to fall in line with the
bandplan. I know bandplans in the UK are not mandatory but they "sort of"
work most of the time.
I have no opinion on the matter as I don't what the beef with the
transmissions are. I'm sure I'm not alone. Can we be enlightened please?
