Don't do that! It means no personal mail in the morning
mail deleivered by the mailman. Imagine..no cards or letters
or other items from a fellow hammie or a SWL listener.

I think American CB'ers not only dished them out, but bundled
with other operators cards that were spares.
Here in Canada, at what were called "Breaks" or "campouts"
our CB or GRS Operators copied our American cousins by not
only giving out their cards, but also those of everyone else
with a little memo on the back "Via XM414474" .

I think the QSL card coming into the station, is a great
compliment. They were listening to you, and wanted to let
you know they heard you. Many people just sent just letters
which were greatly appreciated by me.
Yes Andy ... here in Canada, my family and I used CB or
GRS and enjoyed it for many years, right up until the 1970s
when it became just too nutty. In those years, yes I received
QSL cards. I enjoyed mailing out replys, marking our card
with the information needed, even sending a letter too.
QSL cards used to be refered to as "wall paper" thus our
cards were made from "wall paper".
When I went to rallys or fests, I never dished out cards.
I didn't think it was my idea of how the card should be given
out. While I collected some interesting cards, I kept those
separate from "on-the-air" ones. I guess I collected them
to get ideas for designing a future card.
Today looking back... I enjoyed QSL Cards coming and going
as an SWL'er, CB'er and Ham'er. Today however in meeting
friends from my past, when cards come up, they always remind
me of the "wall paper" cards issued by my SWL & CB <GS> station.
"Thank you" for the memorys Andy. Please don't dish'em out.
