Wanted

Some ideas for a 455 kHz product detector for SSB/CW in a homebrew
receiver.

I obtained an old chasis with a solid state assemblige that seems to be
some kind of partly made HF receiver. There is a VFO, preselector and 455
kHz IF strip. But there isn't any detector.

Some some ideas of your favourite solid state product detector for 455 kHz
would be helpful.

The ARRL Handbook of a few years ago suggests a 1496 IC or a single JFET
mixer. A two diode mixer is a possibility, but what kind of coil would be
needed at 455 kHz?
