20th HOMEBREW & OLDTIME EQUIPMENT PARTY (HOT-PARTY) visitors' book (18-Nov-07)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The proper contest to re-activate old radio technology (DJ1LP)

Thank you for organizing such a nice contest for those who still remember
the time when all of us were younger...(OK1MKX)

Recommissioning the transceiver after more than 30 years made me
younger by 30 years, too. (DJ6HP)

Not the best conds this year, >15kHz wide interference on 40m...(DL1UNK)

A better antenna would have yielded better results (DK5RY)

One station had key-clicks, another one chirped, a third one hummed,
and my signal wasn't much better either (DL7ULF)

...here each participant is a winner in the spirit of the rules (DL1HTX)

Snow-covered roof hampered otherwise reasonably working loop in the loft:
No conds on 80m (OE6BWG)

It's a challenge to operate a QRP CO-PA in a party or contest
(DL0OG/DJ2GL)

My credo: You must be part of the 20th HOT. An almost hopeless endeavour
with 5w which succeeded in the end (DL1JGA)

I got the Drake-Line on 12 Dec 1976, the then 20 years old OP's dream
station (OE1TKW)

   Unfortunately I couldn't come onto 80m (OF7QR)

Taking part with ancient gear was a challenge. Getting them to work was
one thing, operating separate TX/RX another (HB9APJ)

Put up a sloping dipole for 7 MHz and switched between it and a vertical
- not much difference (OZ5DX)

Sitting on 2 xtals and small power and QRM rejected QSOs... (OH2BGX)

The condx on 80m were very fine, so it was interesting to work QRP
outside the QRP segments (OZ9KC)

3.5 MHz was working well, glad to hear HAMs from so many countries
(OZ7YL)

Taking part in this short contest was fun again (DK1VD)

With a jury-rigged wire for antenna I could be part of the HOT-Party
a little (HB9AFH)

... I admired the ancient style of traffic. (OK5TM)

To keep boredom away I plugged in the bug instead of the HA-1 in the 2nd
hour of both parts (DK3UZ)

A valid reason and a challenge to re-activate old gear including a
straight key (DL4YL, DK2TA)

Unfortunately the HOT-Party collided with a family one (DL6RBH)

Much more comfortable than last year, when I was QRV with a GRC-9 from my
garden (DL9BDM)

No el-bug, no cw filter, no sidetone, no QSK, no computer...but great
fun! (DL9GTI)

My first contest for many years, great fun and some lovely chirpy
signals! (G3TYB)

The garage wasn't comfortable. Electric heater warmed my feet (DL9GWA)

I insisted on finishing and testing a somewhat complex XO. That needed
time resulting in only a few contacts (DK6NC)

Either I'll get a TRX older than 30 years or I won't take part next year,
unless TRX will get their own category (DJ3IW)

RIG: HW-9A, 5 watt, built 1989, my initial effort. When the TX worked
flawlessly I was very proud of myself (HB9DEO)

It pleased me to turn on again my old TS-120V which I used to use in many
contests (HB9RE)

Next time I will use my old Drake 4-line, perhaps on low power! (PA0CMU)

Warmed up my Drake-Line during the week preceeding the HOT-Party and had
a lot of QSOs (DL8UF)

Manually soldered everything using leaded solder,
   swore -
   searched faults,
   almost blew my mind,
   installed,
   tested,
   mastered myself,
   enthusiastic! (DL2ANM)

From my GRC-9 manual: Range with long-wire in mode A1 about 50km (DK9KR)

The SB-101's valves need rather long to warm up, and the VFO seemingly
doesn't want to stand still (DL9OE/DF0AWG)

Only 17 QSOs but lots of fun with my 2w (ON4ADR)

I blew out dust from my first home brew rig. I didn't use it more than 10
years. (RW3AI)

Maybe the equipment's age limit should be reconsidered, I think 30 years
aren't enough (DJ7RS)

One learns again how to net properly without single signal reception
(DK2KV)

The less than bright weather prevented discussions with the XYL (DL7UWE)

                           - . . . -

Adjudication: DK9KR (e-logs); DJ7ST (paper logs)
Translation DL into G: DK3UZ (mni tks Eddi)
