       6th QRP-MAS (05-May-2005): Participants' Comments
       -------------------------------------------------

Hooray! First time without QRN for years! Improved suburban antenna
location yielded quieter reception. Despite simple techniques noticeably
more stations were worked (DL1ARH)

My first start in category A. The RX's lack of selectivity poses one
problem...another one being the cold in my summer shack without heater.
Again a superb evening in spite of above shortcomings (DL2BXC)

Almost no QRN, several new calls: This time the MAS went fb until the end.
The number of category A stations has increased...(DJ1ZB)

Unfortunately not yet with new rig: Again the old CO, but this time with
EL803. Much less retroaction as with the EL508. Seems the planned single
valve TRX will have to wait until my retirement (DJ9IE)

I heard la lot of stn, but many did not answer my call...FB opportunity to
meet QRP friends (OK1DXK)

Conditions improved during the last hour, but QRN came in at the same time.
Anyhow it was a good contest (OZ9KC)

Dead-Bug style in Teko housing. Mounting the PA transistor directly onto
the base plate wasn't such a good idea, oscillator started to drift after
every transmission...(my learning process) (DJ2TK)

   A single-valve Hartley...now with Telefunken RES964 instead of TM15.
Frequency stability was found wanting, though. Radio-WX was good this time.
(DL2MFP)

Took part in this contest for the first time, and am looking forward to
the next one (DK8SX)

At least for category A QRP-MAS means QRP-MASochism, hi (DL1HTX)

For the chosen concept a further reduction of the component count seems
to have come to an end. I hope the efforts continue to be honoured by a high
participation (DL7FZ)

Nice challenge, 1st attempt/participation. I'll be back with you on the
next occasion. Found the condx excellent after the first hour was over.
Strange to hear so many stns but to be rockbound with the TX (DL4NSE)

Finished soldering in time... Antenna change over switch like Marconi's
when he bridged the Atlantic...operation required a ballet artist's dexterity.
Rig: DJ1ZB who's sig I heard with a slight "ceramic accent".
Went to bed at 2230. Satisfaction pure! (DL2BQD)

Was fun again establishing radio contacts with so little expenditure
(DL1SAN)

My PIXIE 2 was working well, I could receive a lot of stations. Unfortu-
nately not all could hear me. Sometimes a bit of AM breakthrough. And a bit
broad band receiving, not always a disadvantage (PA1W)

First time I took part, went quite well. Already have ideas for next time
(DL6CGC)

Heard a lot more stations than I worked (DK5RY)

With each QSO the TX drifts anew. Reason is probably the "cold" VFO-
transistor which slowly gets warm when keyed (DL0ARN)

After a run-in phase matters continuously got better, had big fun.
No QRN, just the usual 80m QRM (DL1JGA)

I used a simple QRPP transmitter...it is my first TX after getting my
own license 1996 (OK1MKX)

TNX for all. The best contest, gl! (OK1DLY)

I think participation was quite good...beating the drum certainly payed
off (DG3WB)

...but the initial high activity waned strongly, maybe 3 hours would
suffice? (DL4FO)

A pretty chirruping on the band! (DJ2GL)

The forecast thunderstorms didn't come because of dropping temperatures.
The MAS went well until the very last minute (DK0LA)

Lots heard, little reached...For Ascension Day 2006 I plan a new building
project (DL9GWA)

I started construction in the morning and did not finish until 20 UTC, so
I lost some time, but it still was fun. I was surprised to...make so many
QSOs on the colour burst frequency 3579kHz (LA3ZA)

Archilles heel was the RX. In addition to a bandwidth absolutely unsuita=
ble for contests I found a rather poor gain control behaviour...
But: I had big fun, learned a lot in the process and
HAVE BUILT MY FIRST TRANSMITTER (DL8SAI)
                                - - - - -
(Again mni tks to Eddi (DK3UZ) for translation DL into G!)

The MAS-Results will follow in about 1 week.

73/2 es hpe cuagn in 18th Original-QRP-Contest this weekend (2/3-July)!

 Hal, DJ7ST
