An improbable result indeed: Four OM with equal score share the
first place in class A! Those logs received considerably greater scrutiny
than usual, but there was no avoiding the somehow harmonic stalemate at
the top. After the 40m part the immediate runners up looked more like
would-be winners. But after one hour on 80m DJ2XP's FL-100B gave up its ghost.
And DJ8BD has more than twice as many QSOs on 40 than on 80m. Antenna?
A few QRP participants by mistake entered in class A. Because of
identical scoring, and because it brings disadvantages to nobody,
they were quietly moved to class C.
The new 30-years-rule -which got explicit consent- caused two "victims"
with too "young" gear (see CH). A slight drop in participating numbers
may have the same cause, but also here time will finally heal all wounds.
If he analyzes carefully, Fred, DJ3KK, will receive great satisfaction
from the score table: The ELBC rigs described by him in CQ-DL and SPRAT
appear all of five times. One could call it an outstanding victory in
the constructor's section. The Sierra is represented four times,
proportionally more often than in the OQRPC. Of three Elecraft K2s one can be
found in class A. Nice to see a brand-new "Rockmite" listed, but equally nice
the win of Robert, DJ2GL (as DL0OG) with the (together with DJ7RS) probably
oldest equipment (TX + RX = appr. 110 years , congrats!)
A special reverence to the age and performance of Jean, F8IL, born
in 1908, who joined the HOT-PARTY, 94 years and all!
Not few had a small amplifier trailing their QRP TRX. Probably not
to show some elbows, but to take the opportunity of the HOT-PARTY
to cast a creative look beyond the QRP-plate's rim. Some well-known
QRP callsigns appear in class A using vintage radios, enjoying variety.
And there is no lack of QRP participants either.
The still comparatively poor attendance in class B remains a mystery.
Shouldn't there be more old receivers or first works of homemade trans-
mitters which -supplemented with a new counterpart- could populate class B?
Instead of using a possibly intimidating T/R "contraption", this
particular problem could probably be solved by recruiting a separate
receiving aerial. (This comment was translated by DK3UZ, mni tks to Eddi!)
After the HOT-PARTY is before the HOT-PARTY!
Next QRPCC event: QRP MINIMAL ART SESSION on 29th May.
