Notes of interest:
FO/A- AUSTRAL ISLANDS. "The Daily DX" and "La Gazette du DX" are
reporting that a Finish group will be active from here between
January 5-19th. Their callsigns are not known yet. The team
includes: Veko/OH1AWW, Jouko/OH1RX, Henri/OH3JR, Veijo/OH6KN
and Kimmo/OH9MDV. Activity will be on all bands on CW/SSB/RTTY/
PSK31. There will be a special emphasis on the low bands. More
details are forthcoming, and the team plans to have a Web page.
HG04, HUNGARY (Special Prefix). Tibor, HG4I, informs OPDX that he will
be using the special callsign HG04HNY between December 10th and
January 12th. The special event callsign, HG04HNY, stands for:
The 04 as a call area is the last two numbers of newcoming year
and the HNY suffix is the abbreviation of the phrase "Happy New
Year". Activity will be on all HF bands (including the WARC bands)
on the following modes: CW, RTTY, BPSK, SSB, (FM on 29 MHz). He
will try to take a part in all HF contests during the activity
period. The stations are valid as a separate multiplier in the

I - ITALY. Celebrating 50 years of RAI - Italian Radio/TV broadcasting
in period 03/01/2004 --> 01/02/2004 special callsigns II0RAI --->
II9RAI issued. Special award issues for three QSOs, All bands/Modes
QSOs are valid, but no repeat QSO! For more info send your questions

VK9L & VK9N, LORD HOWE AND NORFOLK ISLANDS. Babs/DL7AFS and Lot/DJ7ZG
will be active from Lord Howe Island, February 16-27th, and from
Norfolk Island, February 29th through March 13th. The callsigns
will be announced later. Activity will be on 80-6 meters on SSB,
