Notes of interest:
ANTARCTICA. Alan, 9V1DX will be QRV from a base camp in the Ellsworth
Mountains as 9V0A on CW and SSB, and VP8PJ on PSK31. He is here from
December 15 to January 10 in support of a team of scientists and
mountaineers climbing Mt. Vinson. QSL via operator's instructions.
HA - HUNGARY. Tibor, HG4I is QRV as HG04HNY until January 12 in celebra-
tion of the new year. Activity is on all bands, including the newer
ones, using CW, SSB, RTTY, BPSK and FM on 29 MHz. He will also be
active in all contests during this period. QSL to home call.
VP8- Alan, 9V1DX (of VK0LD/VK0MM Macquarie Island 1999/2000 fame) will
be active from a temporary base camp in the Ellsworth Mountains,
while supporting a team of scientists and mountainteers climbing
Mount Vinson (5140 metres a.s.l., the highest elevation in Antarc-
tica). He will be from around 15 December to around 10 January. He
will use VP8PJ (his old callsign) exclusively on PSK-31 and 9V0A
(special call) on CW and SSB. QSL route CBA. For more details,

SPECIAL EVENT. A team of SP4KSY club members will be active again as
HF650O to celebrate 650 years of Olsztyn City. The station will be
active from October 1st to December 31st, on CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK.

SPECIAL EVENT (Meet the real Santa before December 24th!). Juha, OH9MM,
reports: "As we all know the real Santa Claus comes from Finland!
Santa Claus Land (OH9SCL) will be again active during this December
from the Artic circle." This year there will be a special activity
period between 17th of December and the 21st of December. Operation
will be on 80-10 meters CW/SSB/RTTY/PSK31/SSTV. The main focus of
digital modes will be during the weekend. The persons willing to
help Santa this year are: OH2BH, OH2NWG, OH3BHL, OH9KL, OH9MDV,
OH9MM, OH9RJ and OH9VC. QSL is via OH9UV.
