Yes, assuming you tune with the receiver and leave DigiPan's frequency
set within the passband of your narrow filter. If you tune with
DigiPan and switch in a narrow filter, the desired signal will likely
disappear and you'll have to find it again with the receiver tuning.
Probably not good if you are in the middle of a QSO.

Hi! I've been having a ball with PSK using cabling and the standard
circuits, hooked to the accessory sockets of my rigs. The RigBlaster is
appealing for use at my home station to keep things a little neater --
I'll probably continue using cabling for portable operation with my other
rig, since the two rigs have different mike connectors. Question: my
computer also has a DB9 serial port. Did you order (belatedly) the DB25
cable from West Mountain? Thanks and 73!

Hi Bob:
My computer also has a DB9 port. I had been using DB9 both ends serial
cabling (the free - non-computer - end is a DB9 male) to connect a Ten-Tec
RX 320 receiver. I went to my local Radio Shack to get a serial cable with
a DB25 male free end to mate with the female DB25 on the RIGblaster. Of
course, you know the answer I got: Sorry, we are expecting a new shipment on
Tuesday next week.
Fortunately, they had gender-changer plugs, so I got a female DB9 one end
and male DB25 on the other, and I was in business. The RX 320 is now
resting (I hardly turned it on anyway; can't think now why I bought it:
maybe to listen to PSK31 on business trips?). The RIGblaster is a new toy; I
could not possibly contemplate the waiting time involved in a belated DB25
cable order from West Mountain. Having to wait overnight to get started was
tough enough already! :>))
What I would say, though, is that West Mountain should spell out the cabling
requirements on the website in a little more detail than they do; although,
to be fair, the FAQs do mention the serial connector and the stereo plugs,
the SPECS mention the DB25F serial, and one of the photos does give a pretty
good sense of what the back of the unit looks like.
But you know, of course, that you only need the serial connector if you want
PTT (and PTT mic override and interrupt) capacity. Without the serial
connector the manual says the RIGblaster works in VOX mode.
I had my first two PSK31 contacts last night, both on 14.070. The second
one was with IK5GQG in Florence. Went to bed with a grin. Oh: I used the
unit with a Kenwood TS 430S, a delta loop, and PSK31 software I had
previously downloaded and had been using to read PSK31 mail. And my 3-yr
old 200MHz Gateway.
The RIGblaster sure seems like a nice useful unit.
Now to check out the other modes...

I'm not sure if I got address right in previous email so this may be a
repeat. If so I appologize.
For those who are more recently on the reflector I offer the following data
for your viewing. I have made several IMD measurements and recorded the
spectra for 3 rigs under various power levels and compared to output of
sound card which is very near to theoretical spectrum. Kenwood TS-570,
Yaesu FT1000MP and Collins KWM2-A and a 30L1 Linear. If you are interested

http://members.home.net/w5tx and click on the PSK31 IMD hyperlink. Be
patient because there are many spectrum pictures and in order for you to
read them they are a little larger than most gifs you download. Comments
are of course welcome. If I can get to it I still intend to make some
serious RX tests regarding gains/AGC etc. Hopefully in a few days :>).

Sometimes that's true, but perhaps 80 percent of the time it's possible
to "tune" with the IF shift, swinging the filter passband across the
signal so that no receiver tuning is necessary.
